Sweet brown sugar to yellow flesh, very juicy and full bodied. Rare. Pollination-variant non-astringent variety persimmon can be eaten firm when "goma" - dark inside. At its best when texture is "plummy," slightly soft. Must be softened or alcohol-treated when not goma. Season: Late October, November, early December Size: 20 to 32 per metric layer Suggested uses: Fresh eating, grilled, salads. Shelf life: Store at 32 F, separated from ethylene-producing fruits, to keep firm for several weeks. Do not store between 36 and 50 degrees. 7 to 10 days at cool room temperature, away from other fruit to prevent softening. |
