Plums |
HOWARD'S MIRACLE PLUMS There is a reason you only see one plum in the picture. Howard's Miracle, AKA Howard's Wonder, is a scant, unreliable bearer. Why do we grow it? Because it is a beautiful, delicious fruit. Large, rounded Japanese plum, golden yellow skin blushed with rosy red, looks like a California sunset. The flavor of its amber gold flesh is complex, honeyed with a citrussy almost effervescent tang to balance its lingering sweetness. Freestone, slices well but browns readily. Extremely rare. Season: Late July to early August Size: 28 to 40 per metric layer Suggested uses: Fresh eating, salads, cheese platters, baking, sorbets, preserves, sauces. Shelf life: 7 days in your cooler for raw use, up to 2 weeks if you are cooking them. |
