bamboo

Our quarter acre bamboo grove was planted by original owner George Oki with the fresh shoots in mind. It also serves as a windscreen and favorite roosting place for myriads of birds.

"SWEETSHOOT BAMBOO"
Phyllostachys Dulcis

"Sweetshoot bamboo" is the common name of this variety,
prized for its tender texture and sweet, delicate flavor.

The Bamboo Shoots are in full season
right now.

The shoots are $5 a pound. We ship Priority Mail, which gets to you in 2 to 3 days. Shipping for up to five pounds of bamboo shoots to any USPS mailing address in the United States is $11.

"The aromatic, just-cooked shoots taste like artichoke, corn and hearts of palm,"
writes Laura McCandlish in an article for NPR's Kitchen Window.
