YALI ASIAN PEARS
Finally an Asian pear that is pear shaped! Yali is a Chinese variety, also called "singing bird pear." This very pretty pear looks like a more slender, elegant version of Bartlett. Smooth greenish yellow skin. Crisp juicy texture and fine sweet-tart flavor with hint of anise and spice. Season: August to September. Size: 12 to 40 per metric layer. Suggested uses: Fresh eating, salads, cheese platters, roasting, grilled, poached. Shelf life: Will keep at 32 degrees for 3 weeks. |
