Bartlett is the first European pear of the season, and one of the very best. It is an antique variety dating back to the 16th Century. The yellow skin is sometimes tinged with pink. Bartlett are wonderfully aromatic, tender, with flesh that is fine-grained, sweet, juicy, deliciously complex.
